Annie’s Homegrown
Partnerships, Educational and Cause-Related Programs

Annie’s Homegrown is passionate about people, the planet and food, and continually strives to improve its standing as a responsible corporate citizen. Each year, Annie’s gives back to communities on a local and national scale by supporting groups and individuals who are working to create a better world, including:

Community Giving: Annie’s believes in gardening as the tool to connect communities with real food and view local community and schoolyard gardens as vibrant sources for connection and education.  Annie’s works to help students and organizations gain access to gardening opportunities both through product and monetary donations.

Cases for Causes: Annually Annie’s donates thousands of cases of its natural macaroni & cheese and snack crackers to a variety of organizations that benefit connect kids with gardening. Priority is given to programs that center around organic gardening, environment and education advocacy.

Grants for Gardens:  Through this grant program, which launch in May 2007, Annie’s offers funds for school and community gardens to buy gardening tools, seeds or other needed supplies.

Sustainable Agriculture Scholarships: Annie’s is dedicated to helping tomorrow’s agricultural leaders, and will award $50,000 in scholarships to students studying sustainable and organic agriculture at U.S. colleges and universities. Previously, the company offered an environmental studies scholarship, a program that began in 2000.

Growing Organic: Annie Withey lives on an organic farm in Connecticut, where she grows many varieties of fresh vegetables, which she sells at a weekly farmers market. To encourage families to learn more about organics, Annie’s has created a step-by-step guide with fun activities to show children and parents how they also can “Grow Organic.”

NativeEnergy: Annie’s partners with NativeEnergy to offset the estimated carbon dioxide emissions from its corporate headquarters, manufacturing facilities, mobile sampling tour and distribution warehouse. This investment in renewable energy credits will help finance the construction of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe St. Francis Wind Farm in South Dakota.

Grassroots Campaigns: Annie’s has created several grassroots campaigns that promote the values of peace, environmental responsibility and support of organic foods. Free bumper stickers, available at www.annies.com, are offered with the following mottos: “Be Green,” “Think Organic,” “Recycle” and “Stand for Peace.”

Partnerships: Annie’s has partnered with local children’s museums, farming organizations, zoos, among other organizations. Sponsorships have included organic farming initiatives (e.g. Farm Aid 2003 to present), children’s musicians, and earth festivals, among others.
